Friends of Bellport Bay (FOBB)

In 2015, the BVPF assisted the startup not-for-profit organization "Friends of Bellport Bay"  with initial funding to seed over 400,000 oysters in Bellport Bay.

 

The success and size of this project after nine years is astonishing and gratifying. To date, FoBB has seeded over 3 million shellfish into Bellport Bay.  FoBB's successes have achieved a filtering (cleaning) level of approximately 90-100 million gallons of bay water per day as of 2023, significantly significantly cleaning the bay.  We are proud to have given FoBB this initial funding to start their important mission.
